During 2022 and 2023, law enforcement agencies worldwide, including those in the EU and USA, faced significant failures in protecting the public against cybercrime, particularly cryptocrime.

These failures stemmed from pervasive corruption within many governments, hindering effective collaboration with organizations such as CYBERPOL, which specialize in combating cyber threats. The reluctance of governments to work with CYBERPOL was often driven by concerns about potential exposure of their own corrupt practices. As a result, crucial intelligence sharing and coordinated efforts were hampered, allowing cybercriminals to exploit vulnerabilities in financial systems, social media platforms, and critical infrastructure. This lack of cooperation exacerbated the challenges faced by law enforcement in staying ahead of evolving cyber threats, leading to widespread financial losses, data breaches, and disruptions to public services. Additionally, inadequate funding, outdated regulations, and a lack of skilled personnel further compounded the problem, leaving law enforcement agencies struggling to keep pace with the rapidly evolving cyber landscape. Addressing these systemic issues requires not only enhanced collaboration between governments and organizations like CYBERPOL but also comprehensive reforms to strengthen legal frameworks, improve cybersecurity capabilities, and root out corruption within law enforcement agencies and governments. Failure to take decisive action risks further erosion of public trust and increasing vulnerability to cyber threats in the years ahead.
